5 Conventional Ways to Engage New Social Media Followers

The social media troop is on a constant march. It is more like a Blitzkrieg at the moment and the juggernaut is in no mood to stop. After all, with the kind of following Social Media has, it has well and truly become the drug of our choice. While choosing to engage those who follow your company over Social Media, you need to keep in mind a few points. Let us take a look at 5 main points.

1. It is very significant to back up the Tweets, Facebook updates and Pinterest posts with active and valid content. At the end of day, sloppy content will invariably reduce your campaign to nothing. Masses have their opinions. The only way to satiate them is to have the back up of smart, reader-centric content offering both generic and niche information. This way, content will allow the social links to proliferate. Think of the example of social links within rich content Tweets to understand the phenomena.

2. Listen properly to what your demography wants. Whether it is the American presidential election or a survey for toothpaste, it is most important to listen to the masses. This way, a company can have best of ideas on board and it can formulate the best course of action. A short survey tied with response-seeking metrics is a brilliant way to connect the Social Media followers earnestly to your company.

3. Those who follow Social Media to connect with companies and organization must also be given due respect when they are in the Logged Out or Non-Personalized bracket. This is because social shares for link promotion are judged by Google's bots even in that situation. Naturally, there must be an eye towards creating a strong promotional link campaign, topped by generic searches both in follow and nofollow categories. This way, the Social Media followers will find themselves given due consideration unfailingly

4. Regularly Re-tweet contents. The contents proliferating from more than one source gives a great meaning to the idea of social networking. Such social sharing will broaden the horizon of contents you would like to share and at the same time it will allow the sharing metrics to grow exponentially via 'likes'. Also, such likes will be well- meant.

5. Improvise regularly. Over the domain of Social Media, nothing quite works like constant innovation. The idea is to ensure that your followers get something new the moment they have had enough of your last idea. Though there is no firm way to check it, you will find following reducing nonetheless, if you have nothing new to offer from time to time. Creating fresh anchor texts rapidly and cornering it for popular or generic searches with distinct keywords can be a great idea in this regard.
It is not tough to manage a very special campaign and get a thorough Social Media following. The art lies in traveling on the right side of White Hat and giving a labored glance to SEO strategies at times as well.

Beware of False Followers Bearing Tweets

Received an email from Twitter the other day telling me I had a new follower of my Twitter account. My first thought was how wonderful my marketing efforts were starting to gain traction and possibly in the future some of my followers would engage in business with me.

The profile of the person following me was in-line with my profession, so I thought at least I had a kindred spirit where maybe I could learn something from him that could help expand my business.

The biggest advantage social media has over offline marketing is the speed by which you can initiate relationships. Although reaching out to someone travels at the speed of light, relationship building usually occurs at a snail's pace. Meaningful relationships can develop in an instant, but usually not until each party develops the bond where they know, like and trust the other.

As I looked over the profile of my new friend to be, I noticed he had many followers, over 27,000. I thought this guy really knows his stuff considering his line of work, but then I noticed the number of people he was following, over 28,000.

At that instant I knew I was being approached by someone who really wasn't interested in building a relationship with me!

Automation is a wonderful thing; it can alleviate the mundane and repetitive nature of tasks. Unfortunately you will encounter people who use automation for the sole purpose of building a list instead of a relationship.

Now how could I make a snap judgment like this with only the two pieces of information I've given you?

As I studied his profile, his bio directed me to his webpage where he was extolling how to make $$$ dollars a day using a software tool to cull potential followers in Twitter. He went on in his review about buying a multiple license copy of the software so you could run multiple profile searches simultaneously to build multiple lists.

To add more damning proof, I went back to his Twitter account and noticed he had over 13,000 tweets. Not even the most rabid teenager with nimble fingers can tweet that many tweets! As I read some of the tweets, I noticed they were generated from a software product he was using to post to this Twitter account X times per day. Of his 13,000+ tweets, most likely he never tweeted a single one!

Suffice to say I did not return the favor and follow this individual. And as final proof this person wasn't interested in a relationship, his software program dutifully removed his follow 24 hours later.

As you delve into social media, realize that social media is all about being social. Social doesn't explicitly mean being buddy-buddy. Social means providing value to the other person. You can talk exclusive about your business, but it has to be in a way where you are providing education, knowledge or useful experiences that will benefit your followers.

Although rooted in spiritual principles, in social media, it is far better to give of yourself freely than to expect a return of your favor.
